The Role

You will work closely with both of our property & commercial partners and solicitors across a wide range of clients throughout Taranaki. We work with many of Taranaki's largest businesses, across local authorities, manufacturing, energy, developers, and construction, and a broad range of SMEs and private individuals.

This broad client base will let you use your property and commercial experience, deepen your expertise, and take on new opportunities to excel. From time to time, you will also have opportunity to work on and gain exposure on civil litigation matters with our employment & disputes team.

Your skills and experience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver clear, plain‑language advice to a diverse client base.

  • Proven experience in commercial leasing (drafting, reviewing, negotiating) for both landlords and tenants, including resolving issues.

  • Broad experience in commercial and property matters, including general conveyancing, transactions, subdivisions, due diligence, title issues, and structuring.

  • Expertise in entity formation, asset protection, and personal planning (Wills, Estates, and EPOAs).

  • Experience advising on business succession planning and implementing practical, fit-for-purpose structures.

  • Strong technical drafting skills, including preparing bespoke Deeds and complex legal documentation.

  • Experience advising on banking and finance matters, including complex lending, security arrangements, and funding structures.

  • Any experience in relationship property or mortgagee sales is a plus.
