We are looking for a skilled and personable Desktop Support Engineer to join our Wellington-based team. If you're someone who loves solving problems, thrives on building strong client relationships, and enjoys being the trusted go-to for all things IT, this could be your next move.
About the role
This is a hands-on, client-facing position. You will be part of a fortnightly rotation, spending two weeks onsite supporting a key client, followed by two weeks providing remote support to a range of other valued clients. From troubleshooting tech issues to deploying new devices, your work will help keep client operations running smoothly.
What you'll be doing
Providing onsite desktop support for hardware, software, and network issues
Resolving IT tickets and escalating where needed
Setting up and maintaining IT equipment for end users
Performing regular maintenance - patches, updates, and virus removal
Installing and deploying new systems with minimal disruption
Assisting project team as required
Keeping accurate documentation of support activities
Proactively identifying and resolving potential issues
Being the friendly, reliable face of IT support for clients
What you'll bring
Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or related field (or related experience)
3+ years' experience in IT support or desktop support ideally with experience in onsite or client-facing roles
Strong Windows support skills (Linux experience a bonus)
Knowledge of Active Directory, Office 365, and desktop apps
Strong networking (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN)
Clear communicator with a calm, customer-first approach
Able to work independently and solve problems on the go
Certifications like Microsoft, Azure, Sophos or ITIL are a bonus. PowerShell or scripting experience is great too.
