About the role
Master Electricians is bringing their day to day finance function in house and are after a hands on Accountant to keep things accurate, compliant, and humming along. You'll work closely with the Senior Advisor to the CE and an experienced Accounts Administrator, owning month to month accounting and reporting to trial balance.
This is a part-time role of around 15 - 20 hours per week, ideally spread across four shorter days or five part days, with some flexibility around how you structure your week.
Key responsibilities include:
Manage day to day finance tasks, keeping everything accurate, compliant, and on track
Take care of core compliance including, GST, FBT, PAYE, ACC, and IRD reporting
Oversee payroll processing and support the transition to Employment Hero
Prepare month end journals, reconciliations, accruals, and prepayments in Xero across four entities
Report to trial balance and support cashflow monitoring, budgeting, and audit preparation
Post and reconcile corporate card costs
Look for ways to streamline and improve systems and processes
Collaborate closely with the Senior Advisor to the CE and support the Accounts Administrator
The ideal Part-Time Accountant will have:
Proven experience across end to end finance in a small/medium business
Strong technical accuracy, reconciliations, and a practical eye for detail
Xero proficiency and solid Excel skills
Sound understanding of NZ accounting standards, tax, and payroll
Communicate clearly, work with integrity and a team first mindset
Bring a proactive, improvement-focused approach, always looking for ways to streamline and add value
Familiarity with Employment Hero Payroll (or similar) is a bonus
CA/CPA progress or qualification welcomed, not required
