Trade Master is looking for a full time, permanent Electrical Trainer to join its growing training team, helping develop and deliver practical, high quality electrical training to electricians and electrical workers across New Zealand.
You might already be an experienced trainer or you could be a seasoned electrician, inspector or electrical professional who has spent years mentoring apprentices, developing others or being the person everyone turns to for technical advice.

About Trade Master
Trade Master is a subsidiary of Master Electricians, the national organisation representing more than 1,300 electrical contracting businesses across New Zealand.
Established in 2024, Trade Master delivers continuing professional development and industry training for electrical workers, contractors and business leaders.
Trade Master is an approved Electrical Workers Registration Board (EWRB) training provider and delivers the Electrical Competence Programme, helping licensed electrical workers maintain the competence required for practising licences.
Training is delivered face to face, online, on-site and across regional locations throughout New Zealand.
About the role
As an Electrical Trainer you will develop, deliver and assess engaging electrical training across face to face, online and blended learning.
You will help keep training current and relevant, while building industry relationships and identifying future training opportunities.
Key responsibilities
Deliver practical, engaging and technically accurate electrical training
Develop structured training programmes and learning materials
Facilitate both practical and theory based learning
Conduct practical and theoretical assessments
Keep course content current with changing legislation, technology and industry practice
Maintain accurate learner, assessment and competency records
Build strong relationships with learners, employers, suppliers and industry stakeholders
Identify emerging training needs and opportunities
Contribute to the ongoing development of Trade Master’s online and blended learning offering
Training across all or some of the following courses: EWRB Competence Programme, Electrical Testing, Electrical Theory and Regulations, Electric Motor Testing, Solar design and installation, EV Testing, Supervision and other endorsements
What we are looking for
You will ideally have:
New Zealand electrical registration, such as a full practising licence, Inspector’s licence, Electrical Engineering degree or similar
Extensive practical experience within the electrical industry
Strong knowledge of New Zealand electrical standards, regulations and industry practice
The ability to explain technical concepts clearly and engage a range of learners
Strong planning, organisation and time management skills
Confidence using technology and Microsoft programmes
A professional, collaborative and relationship focused approach
Formal adult teaching or training experience would be valuable, but don’t rule yourself out if you haven’t been a trainer before. Support and development are available for someone with strong industry expertise who is ready to develop their training capability.
You will also need to hold Unit Standard 4098 or be willing to enrol in and complete the course following commencement.
