Finance Coordinator - New Plymouth

People Passion is a 26 year old HR and recruitment consultancy with a team of 14 across New Zealand. We work with SMEs who need practical, straight talking support. Recent internal changes mean we need someone to take ownership of our finance function while providing operational support to keep things running smoothly.
The Role
This is primarily a finance role (70%) with operational and administration support (30%) for the wider team.
The operational side is about making sure the right things happen at the right time, keeping workflows moving, and providing administration support where needed.
Finance responsibilities:
Accounts payable and receivable
Weekly payroll processing
Xero reconciliation and management
Debtor and creditor management
Cashflow and budget monitoring
Monthly reporting on financial performance and key metrics
Liaison with suppliers and external accountants
Operational responsibilities
Administration support for the wider team
Workflow and systems support across the business
This is a full time role, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. We are open to flexibility around start and finish times to suit the right person.
What We Need
Essential
Proven experience in finance and accounts
Strong working knowledge of Xero
High attention to detail and accuracy with numbers
Comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines
Reliable, proactive, and has passion for people and numbers
Highly valued
Experience with Microsoft 365, Employment Hero, or similar platforms
Project management or process improvement experience
Background in a professional services or consultancy environment
