About the Role

On behalf of our client, we are seeking a capable and detail-oriented Site Accountant to support the day to day finance operations of the New Zealand business. This role is suited to an intermediate level accountant who enjoys being hands on across the full accounting cycle including month end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting support. You will play an important role ensuring financial information is accurate, well organised and processed in a timely manner while working closely with both the New Zealand team and Global HQ Finance.

Key Responsibilities

 
Financial Operations & Reporting

  • Manage end to end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely payments.

  • Processing of accounts payable, accounts receivable and cashbook transactions including follow up.

  • Complete month end accounting including journals, accruals, deferrals and investigation of variances.

  • Prepare and lodge GST and PAYE returns in line with New Zealand regulatory requirements.

  • Perform bank, balance sheet, credit card and general ledger reconciliations to maintain financial integrity.

  • Process supplier invoices and manage supplier accounts.

  • Assist with preparation of monthly financial reporting including consolidated profit and loss information.

  • Ensure operational transactions such as flights are accurately recorded within the relevant accounting period.

Systems & Process Excellence

  • Maintain well organised financial records and documentation.

  • Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes.

  • Ensure compliance with financial policies, internal controls and statutory requirements.

Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally at an intermediate level.

  • Strong understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes together with experience supporting month end accounting and balance sheet reconciliations

  • Experience preparing reconciliations, accruals and deferrals.

  • Intermediate to advanced Excel skills including formulas, pivot tables and data analysis.

  • Experience using finance ERP systems such as Netsuite, Xero, Accredo, MYOB or similar.

  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.

  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple financial processes accurately.

  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently within a small team environment while supporting wider global finance processes.
