 About Metal Skills:

Since 1996, Metal Skills has grown from a small operation into one of New Zealand's leading sheet metal product manufacturers. Metal Skills is a company built on innovation and excellence, offering a true end-to end manufacturing solution under one roof from design and laser cutting through to welding, powder coating and delivery. To a reputation of providing high end quality technical work that is manufactured in a 'state of the art' purpose-built building.

When you join Metal Skills, you are joining a company that is committed to investing in both cutting-edge technology through to the people who operate it.

The Role:

As a General Hand, you'll play an important role in supporting our production team in our powder coating and assembly departments, by assembling, preparing, and handling metal products to meet quality and production standards. This is a hands-on role where attention to detail, reliability, and teamwork are highly valued. You'll work across a variety of production tasks while helping ensure products are completed safely, accurately, and efficiently.

What you will be doing:

Your day will involve assembling and preparing products, organising materials and components, counting and stacking finished goods, and following production instructions and technical drawings. You'll use the MIEPRO scanning system in accordance with standard operating procedures, carry out quality checks, and help minimise rejects and material waste. You'll also maintain a clean, organised work area while following health and safety requirements and supporting the wider production team with other tasks as required.

What we are looking for:

We're looking for someone who takes pride in producing quality work, has a positive attitude, and enjoys working as part of a team. You'll be reliable, organised, and willing to learn, with good communication skills and a strong work ethic. Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment would be an advantage, along with being mechanically minded and comfortable following drawings and instructions. You'll also be flexible to work overtime or different shifts when required and be willing to go the extra mile to support the team.

Why Metal Skills:

Team that values quality craftsmanship: maintains high safety standards and embraces continuous improvement.

Real-world engineering: modern sheet metal manufacturer.

Skill growth: an opportunity to work on diverse projects, develop your skills across multiple welding disciplines, and contribute to our workplace culture.
