Trust Account Administrator - New Plymouth

Be the numbers person who keeps a proudly weasel-free New Plymouth law firm running smoothly.

At a glance

  • Part time, 20 to 25 hours a week

  • Starts December 2026 or January 2027

  • Competitive pay plus health insurance

  • Flexible, with work-from-home options

About the role

We're looking for a switched-on, numbers-savvy Trust Account Administrator to join a friendly team in New Plymouth. You'll own the day-to-day trust accounting and finance, and support the wider team with a variety of operational tasks.

No legal background? That's okay. If you have solid bookkeeping, accounts, banking or finance admin experience, pick up new systems quickly and enjoy figuring things out, you'll get training and support.

What you'll do

  • Manage daily trust account transactions, settlements, reconciliations, client deposits and client trust statements

  • Complete month-end trust account reconciliation and reporting

  • Look after accounts payable and receivable, including invoicing, payments and debtor follow-up

  • Support wider finance work, including GST, GL coding, bank reconciliations and expense claims

  • Make sure trust accounting meets compliance and AML requirements

  • Help with office administration, reporting and practice management, and find ways to make processes simpler and smarter

About you

  • Experience in bookkeeping, accounts or finance administration

  • Strong with numbers, reconciliations and financial transactions

  • Excellent attention to detail, accuracy and discretion, and you understand why that matters when handling client funds

  • Confident with financial systems, ideally Xero, and Microsoft Office

  • Curious and solutions-focused: you take ownership, juggle priorities and work independently

  • Helpful and happy to pitch in. Legal trust accounting experience is a bonus, not a must

Why you'll love it

You'll join a tight-knit team with more than three decades of practical commercial, property and employment law behind it. They're helpful, professional, curious and proudly "weasel-free": upfront, clear and jargon-free. It's a varied role with real ownership, room for fresh ideas, and support to grow your career.

Sound like you?
