The Position

Reporting to the Purchasing and Imports Manager, this role is a key part of our Supply Chain Division. As Procurement Officer, you'll play an important role in keeping our supply chain running smoothly from placing purchase orders and coordinating deliveries, through to monitoring supplier performance and supporting continuous improvement. Day to day, you'll be responsible for:

  • Managing purchase orders, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with policy.

  • Coordinating with Sales, Customer Service, Planning, and suppliers to keep stock levels right and orders moving.

  • Tracking shipments (local and international) and liaising with freight forwarders to meet delivery deadlines.

  • Monitoring supplier performance, following up on issues, and driving improvements.

  • Supporting inventory planning and reporting to keep stock aligned with business needs.

  • Preparing regular purchasing and supplier reports, including performance monitoring.

  • Contributing to process improvements to lift quality, cost efficiency, and lead times.

  • Building strong relationships with suppliers and internal teams to ensure smooth operations.

  • Providing backup support to purchasing and sourcing teams across ANZ when required.

Our Ideal Procurement Officer Will Have:

  • Proven experience in procurement, logistics, or supply management (industrial sector preferred).

  • Strong knowledge of stock management, import shipping, and customs processes.

  • Confidence using SAP (or similar ERP) and solid MS Excel/Word skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational ability, with the capacity to manage competing priorities.

  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to think proactively.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships at all levels.

  • A collaborative, positive, and proactive approach with a focus on customer service.

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (degree or certificate in supply chain, business or similar) desirable.

  • A flexible and adaptable mindset, embracing new ideas and challenges while demonstrating a commitment to the values of Nexans
