About the role:

Reporting to Managing Director and Operations Manager, the Workshop Service Manager will oversee daily operations of the workshop, ensuring all vehicle maintenance, repairs, servicing, compliance requirements and workshop activities are completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard. From quality standards to fostering relationships, fleet maintenance to productivity, you will play a critical role in ensuring smooth operations while championing health and safety across the business.

This is an awesome, varied and dynamic role which will see you across the following:

  • Operations: Maintaining productivity and quality standards, controlling costs, and ensuring the fleet remains compliant, reliable and available to meet operational requirements.

  • Internal & external relationships: Coordinate fleet maintenance with the in-house team and build strong supplier relationships.

  • The team: Managing workshop staff, time management and team development while encouraging a positive work culture.

  • Health & Safety: Champion compliance, running toolbox meetings, and upholding workplace safety standards.

This is a full-time role, Monday to Friday 6:30am – 5pm, with Saturday’s 7am-12pm when required.

As STL’s superstar Workshop Service Manager, you will bring:

  • Proven experience in heavy transport, fleet maintenance or commercial vehicle workshops operational management.

  • Strong understanding of heavy vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and compliance requirements.

  • Experience with workshop management systems and maintenance scheduling.

  • Sound understanding of transport industry legislation and compliance requirements.

  • The ability to thrive under pressure and handle challenges effectively.

  • Strong communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.

  • Reliability, self-motivation, and a results-driven mindset.

  • Adaptability and a flexible approach.

  • A current full NZ driver’s licence, Class 4 or 5 licence advantageous.
