About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Health & Safety Manager to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover contract, starting mid-August 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a hands-on H&S professional to lead, influence, and continuously improve health and safety practices across a dynamic business.

Reporting directly to senior leadership, you will be responsible for driving a strong health and safety culture across the organisation. You will provide expert advice, ensure compliance with regulations, and support all teams to maintain a safe and healthy workplace.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and promote a positive health & safety culture across the business

  • Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation

  • Manage and deliver H&S training, inductions, and ongoing staff development

  • Investigate incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing preventative measures

  • Maintain accurate H&S records, systems, and reporting (including incident registers and compliance tracking)

  • Chair Health & Safety Committee meetings and drive continuous improvement initiatives

  • Develop, review, and implement policies, procedures, and emergency management plans

  • Coordinate contractor and stakeholder H&S requirements and compliance

  • Ensure all accreditations, certifications, and documentation are current

  • Support injured staff with return-to-work processes

About You:

  • Proven H&S experience in a similar role

  • Strong knowledge of NZ H&S legislation

  • Confident communicator, proactive and well organised
