About the role:

This is a hands on Project Manager role responsible for overseeing electrical projects from planning through to completion. Working closely with the Contracts Manager, electricians, clients and contractors, you will ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently and to a high standard.

It's a 45 hour week but you will be trusted to manage your time like a professional. Get the job done, look after your projects, and there is flexibility when life needs it.

Day to day, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing commercial electrical projects from start through to completion

  • Coordinating site teams, subcontractors and suppliers

  • Allocating workload and setting clear expectations for installation staff

  • Monitoring project timelines, budgets and resourcing

  • Communicating with clients, contractors and internal teams

  • Liaising with other trades to ensure smooth project delivery

  • Processing variations and assisting with project claims and WIP tracking

  • Preparing project documentation and maintaining project records

  • Ensuring projects meet safety, quality and compliance standards

  • Monitoring workmanship to ensure work meets industry best practice

  • Coordinating materials and equipment required for projects

  • Identifying and resolving issues to keep projects running smoothly

The ideal Project Manager:

You will be someone who can step into the role with confidence and quickly get up to speed. This role suits a practical, solutions-focused person who is comfortable managing people, projects and the day-to-day realities of site-based work.

  • Qualified Electrician (non-negotiable)

  • Proven experience in a similar Project Manager or senior electrical project coordination role

  • The ability to hit the ground running and take ownership of projects from day one

  • Strong understanding of electrical industry project management processes

  • Experience using Simpro and familiarity with construction or contract management software

  • Excellent organisational and coordination skills

  • Strong people and personality management skills, with the ability to lead site teams

  • A robust, resilient and consistent approach to managing projects and solving problems

  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships

  • Strong local knowledge or existing connections within the Manawatū construction or electrical industry would be beneficial

  • Full driver licence
