What You'll Do

  • Lead Projects: Deliver end-to-end solutions in cloud migrations, infrastructure upgrades, security enhancements, and network redesigns.

  • Architect Solutions: Design and deploy tailored server, storage, and network systems for SMB clients.

  • Drive Excellence: Provide advanced troubleshooting and proactive maintenance across Windows, Linux, and cloud environments.

  • Champion Cloud: Deploy, manage, and optimise Microsoft 365, Azure, and other cloud platforms.

  • Secure & Comply: Implement robust security, backup, and disaster recovery strategies to meet compliance standards.

  • Be a Trusted Advisor: Build lasting client relationships, offering technical guidance and strategic roadmaps.

  • Mentor & Elevate: Support and develop junior engineers, serving as the go-to expert for complex challenges.

  • Operational Senior for Escalations: Act as the operational senior for escalations, taking ownership of Priority 1 (P1) incidents and ensuring rapid, effective resolution of critical issues.

  • Team Player During Peak Loads: Be available to handle lower-tier tickets and support the team with day-to-day issues during periods of high workload, helping to maintain service levels and team balance.

  • Document & Improve: Maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for systems and processes.

What You Bring

  • 5+ years in a senior systems engineering role, ideally within an MSP or IT services environment.

  • Proven track record leading and delivering technical projects, including scoping and managing chargeable work.

  • Deep expertise in:

    • Windows Server (AD, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy)

    • Microsoft 365 & Azure administration

    • Virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V)

    • Networking (firewalls, switches, routing, VPNs)

    • Backup and disaster recovery

    • Security hardening and compliance frameworks

  • Outstanding problem-solving, communication, and client-facing skills.

  • Ability to thrive independently and juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.

  • Experience handling escalations and critical incidents, with a calm, decisive approach under pressure.

  • Willingness to assist with lower-tier support tickets to help balance team workload when needed.

  • Microsoft certifications (e.g., MS-102, AZ-104, SC-300, or equivalent)

  • VMware or Cisco certifications

  • Sophos AV and firewall certifications

  • Experience with Linux, PowerShell scripting, or automation tools
